Jack Seidler Becomes Second UCLA Men’s Basketball Preferred Walk-On Commit
The Bruins are heading in a new path with their newest stroll-on addition.
Course of 2022 guard Jack Seidler committed to UCLA men’s basketball as a chosen stroll-on Thursday afternoon, he declared on Twitter. Not like the rest of the stroll-ons of the Mick Cronin period, Seidler is not from a nearby higher university power.
As an alternative, the sharpshooter is wrapping up his senior yr at Marlboro Significant Faculty (NJ), making one particular of just four Bruins on next year’s roster not from the West location.
Seidler had an provide from Drake, but he has evidently determined to stroll on at UCLA as a substitute of heading to the Midwest.
Seidler will not get up a scholarship location for the Bruins, which means the method nevertheless has space to include a transfer or two this offseason.
Ahead Logan Cremonesi entered the transfer portal on April 9, but guard Russell Stong declared he would be returning for his fifth yr as a wander-on. If the Bruins use all 13 of their accessible scholarships, their roster will be 16 gamers deep. Past period, UCLA experienced just one fewer stroll-on and two gamers out for the year with torn ACL, so Cronin should have a lot more bodies to do the job with in follow through the 2022-2023 marketing campaign.
Stong, Cremonesi and Manjikian are all nearby goods who were bench gamers and glue fellas on their higher college teams before shifting into a similar spot in Westwood, but Seidler will come from a distinct qualifications.
Outside of currently being from New Jersey – affiliate head coach Darren Savino’s home point out the place he even now holds several potent recruiting ties – Seidler finished his substantial college career as his team’s undisputed No. 1 option. Seidler averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2. helps and 1.9 steals for every match for Marlboro his senior year, earning many conference and area Participant of the Calendar year honors though main the Mustangs to a 28-3 document.
On the AAU circuit, Seidler has taken matters to the following amount this spring with time managing out for him to make a collegiate roster place. The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 24 factors per game for Team Ultimate at the Nike EYBL showcase in Orlando, which Cronin and Savino were in attendance for to watch a handful of top-ranked recruits.
Seidler absolutely showed out at the event, even though, scoring 54 factors on 11-of-14 taking pictures from deep in his 1st working day alone.
Though stroll-ons haven’t gotten to enjoy outside of garbage time as a result of Cronin’s 3 seasons at the helm, Seidler’s taking pictures is a trait the Bruins might want a major dose of up coming period. Johnny Juzang declared for the NBA Draft and Jake Kyman transferred to Wyoming, so even with David Singleton asserting his return for his tremendous senior yr earlier Thursday, UCLA does not have any other wings returning who shot higher than 34% from deep final 12 months.
